Fellow-photographer atomic99 posted on the cosplay.com forums, showing the reason WHY the Manchester Grand Hyatt was not on the list yesterday for comic-con hotels.  Turns out there's an AHA Health Forum Leadership Summit happening AT the Hyatt, DURING comic-con, which is why all the rooms were taken.  Check it out:

So they DO have rooms available, but it's for that convention.  As much as I'm tempted to call and say that I'm an attendee of the Health Summit and possibly get a room, I'll just stick with what I have.  I'd hate to see what kind of reaction those AHA people get when the SDCC-attendees go there to drink during the evening or those who do have rooms there for SDCC. 

It still sux that SDCC should've mentioned on their website that the Hyatt wouldn't be available due to this conference, which somehow appeared out of nowhere, but they probably won't mention it at-all and just say "all rooms have been filled"  more b.s.

With this new system that Travel Planners devised for the San Diego Comic-Con 2010 hotel rooms, I had my suspicions that it would not be better than the previous years.  Still, I hopped online before 9:00am today and submitted my reservation, listing up to 12 hotel choices, all of which were close-by (within a few blocks at-most)  To my surprise, the Manchester Grand Hyatt, a hotel which I've stayed at 4 times in all my trips to SDCC, was NOT on the list of hotels to choose from, even though in the booklet I got in the mail beforehand listed it.

When I finally hit "SUBMIT" at 9:05am, i then had to play the waiting-game to receive the email confirmation, telling me which hotel I got for the con.  lalalalalala

When I finally got that email, nearly 6 hours later, it told me my hotel that I received was the Double Tree San Diego in Mission Valley..  3 MILES AWAY!!    That hotel was not one of the ones on my list, and no way I would stay that far away..  

Thankfully my other friend and I, who roomed together with others last year, also submitted a reservation the same time, and somehow she got an email after 3 hours, and was lucky to get the Marriott Hotel & Marina!  Whoever got the closer room first would tell the other, and then I would inform the roomies about the hotel we got.  ^_^

In the end, thanks to my friend (she submitted twice, so maybe I should've done the same?) I'll be at the Marriott (first time staying there evah!) from Thursday and leaving Sunday. 

Overall I think the new system isn't much better, and the whole waiting to find out which hotel you received is torture.  Not to mention that the phone-lines were busy and if you got through to an operator, he/she will tell you if you submitted online then you would have to wait for the email confirmation.  I need to cancel the Double Tree reservation within 5 days, once the reservation website is up & running. 

Hopefully everyone else who did it this way didn't get a bum-deal..

LAST WEEK, ORIHIME MADE A FRIEND WHO LOOKED A BIT LIKE LUPPI, BUT SADLY IT WASN'T HIM, IT WAS SOME CREEPY GIRL CALLED KYOKO WHO GOT POSSESSED BY - YUP, YOU GUESSED IT - A BEAST SWORD. ONE WHO LOOKED LIKE SOMETHING OROCHIMARU WOULD HAVE CREATED AFTER A SERIOUS BENDER. APPARENTLY KYOKO GOT DICKED AROUND BY HER BEST FRIEND FOR BEING CREEPY, SO SHE GOT EXPLOITED BY THE FITTINGLY CREEPY SNAKE WOMAN BEAST SWORD OH G-D WHEN ARE WE GETTING BACK TO CANON. IN 4 EPISODES, APPARENTLY.

( SERIOUSLY, DO WE HAVE TO HAVE ANOTHER FUCKING HAINEKO EPISODE? )

NEXT WEEK: ZABIMARU IS IN NEXT WEEK'S EPISODE, AS IS RENJI, WHICH CAN ONLY MEAN ONE THING: EVEN MORE IDIOCY! APPARENTLY THEY MOLEST SENBONZAKURA AND MAKE SOME RATHER INTERESTING FACES. I WONDER WHERE LORD SNOOTY IS? PRESUMABLY OFF DRINKING STARBUCKS AND BUYING FETCHING SCARVES SOMEWHERE, IF THIS WEEK'S MANGA IS ANYTHING TO GO BY.
